Taipei is the principal gateway to the island but there is also an international airport in the southern city of Kaohsiung. The Kaohsiung - Penghu route is the preferable as the international terminal lies adjacent to the domestic and entails only short trolley push with your luggage to your onward flight. Flights from Kaohsiung take roughly 40 minutes and are there are on average about 20 a day. Routing via Taipei involves a 150 NT$ bus ride of up to one hour through Taipei's somewhat formidable traffic from the international to the downtown domestic terminal. Flights are also frequent from Taipei and are about 50 minutes in duration... On the links page you'll find a couple of Taiwanese travel agent sites which offer the latest flight times and availability, however these are only viewable in Chinese Text. As far as we know there is currently no such service provided on the web in English¡K. Talk to your travel agent¡Kas the flight schedule changes on a monthly basis
Return flights from any of the domestic airports will run in the region of NT$3000
NOTE:
It is best to purchase the return ticket from Ma kung as there is a tax redemption -- you can also have the freedom to choose between the different airlines in case of the need to spend more time on the water. |
